Factory hood props serve a very practical, clear-cut purpose: Hold the hood up with the least amount of expense. However, low cost doesn't always provide the best functionality and sometimes a prop can get in the way of working under the hood of a car. Oftentimes the anchor point is at the front corner of the hood opening, limiting access from the front of the car. STILLEN has come up with a simple and effective solution for this problem.
Utilizing two heavy duty gas struts, similar to those found in hatchback cars, we designed two sets of small brackets which locate a strut on both sides of the hood and each fender on either side of the engine bay. These allow unrestricted access to the engine and other underhood items. In addition to cleaning up the engine bay, they are of particular value when installing performance parts or just showing off at a local meet.
