STILLEN Hood Damper

During the build up of numerous project vehicles, we kept running into the same problem: the hood prop. The factory piece certainly provides a simple means of keeping the hood from falling on your head, but can be difficult to work around when wrenching in the engine compartment.

To eliminate this cumbersome setup, we developed a better solution that provides more headroom and easier access while working in the engine bay. Utilizing two heavy duty gas struts, similar to those found in hatchback cars, we designed two sets of small plated brackets which locate a strut on both sides of the hood and each fender on either side of the engine bay. These allow unrestricted access to the engine and cooling system.

In addition to cleaning up the engine bay, they are of particular value when installing performance parts such as intakes, headers and superchargers.
