- Wheels & Tires
One of the most enjoyable aspects of driving comes down to handling. Every vehicle can benefit from improved handling, since turning is essential for both streetcars and track cars. Few vehicles come optimized from the factory for performance, leaving room for improvement inside each of the wheel wells.
Lowering springs offer a straight-forward solution if you’re simply looking to give your ride a more aggressive stance. For a more customized ride height, a coil-over suspension offers custom ride height adjustability as well as spring preload. Certain models also offer dampening adjustment for a more custom tailored handling package. In supplement of lowering the chassis, aftermarket sway bars and end links add to vehicle handling, not only by reducing body roll in the turns but also in the vehicle’s behavior in the turns (neutral, oversteer, understeer, depending on how the sway bars are adjusted.)
Another important facet of the handling jewel is wheel alignment. The factory suspension allows for a limited range of alignment adjustment based on the factory ride height. Once you’ve made changes (raised or lowered), your vehicle will likely be way out of alignment. To this end, adjustable control arms, tie rods and links add to the range of adjustments to optimize alignment settings.
