The difference between a cat-back exhaust and axle back exhaust is the length of the exhaust system. An axle-back exhaust begins at the last attachment point and ends at the exhaust tips. Cat-back exhausts start at the catalytic converter and end at the exhaust tips. Cat-back exhaust systems include a middle pipe and rear section (axle-back). If you want a sportier sound and nicer look, you'll likely be happy with an axle-back exhaust system. If you're looking for performance gains along with better sound and looks, you'll want a cat-back exhaust upgrade.
Most people upgrade their exhausts for the performance gains - specifically a bump in horsepower and torque. Some customers report seeing fuel economy gains as well! With a new exhaust, you'll also enjoy an enhanced engine note both inside and outside the cabin.
